Core purpose of job: To provide strategic and visionary leadership to the Faculty of Science to achieve its strategic goals in line with Vision 2030 and to participate in university-wide decision-making processes towards achieving Vision 2030.
Key performance areas:
- Develop and implement a faculty strategic plan that is aligned to Vision 2030
- Promote Science Education and Science for Society to make it accessible to the public
- Ensure that the vision and organisational structure of the faculty is fit for purpose and is appropriately implemented
- Ensure the design, development and delivery of quality programmes in the faculty
- Actively promote and market the faculty, university, and its programmes, regionally, nationally, and internationally
- Foster initiatives to enhance student access for success and a humanising, student-centred approach in the faculty which will advance the production of graduates equipped with the skills needed in a rapidly changing digital world
- Provide leadership in the faculty to enhance the depth of disciplines whilst also fostering interdisciplinarity linked to the university's three academic missions and through partnerships in Africa
- Collaboratively lead the deepening of Sustainability Science as a niche area in the faculty and university.

Requirements:
- PhD degree in Science
- At least 8 - 10 years’ relevant experience including management experience
- A solid publication record in the field of Science, will be an added advantage.
Furthermore, it is expected that all shortlisted candidates will:
- Permit to undergo verifications of qualifications, publications, credit records and criminal records as well as any other verification deemed appropriate by the University;
- Deliver a 15-minute presentation, the topic of which will be communicated timeously;
- Provide details of at least three individuals who can provide professional references; and
- Permit to undergo psychometric assessments.
