Department of Nursing Education in the School of Therapeutic Sciences

The School of Therapeutic Sciences in the Faculty of Health Sciences invites applications from suitably qualified individuals in the field of Nursing Education for a full time academic post to teach the post graduate course in infection control and assist with the clinical teaching of students in the undergraduate program. Applications should be accompanied by the necessary proof of relevant qualifications and experience (service certificates), as well as current registration with SANC. Ideally the successful incumbent will start in March 2019. To be considered for appointment at Senior Lecturer level the incumbent must comply with all the University's criteria.


  • Teaching of infection control to masters and diploma students specializing in Infection Control;
  • Teaching of basic sciences relating to advanced nursing studies as well as professional nursing dynamics;
  • Supervision of undergraduate and master students' research reports and dissertations;
  • Active involvement in clinical teaching and supervision in the undergraduate as well as the infection control programmes;
  • Administrative duties;
  • Active involvement in Departmental, School and Faculty activities;
  • Research participation in Departmental, School and Faculty portfolios.


  • Masters degree in the field of Infection Control with Nursing Education as additional qualification OR a Masters degree in Nursing Education with Infection Control as additional qualification, OR evidence of studying towards the mentioned qualifications.
  • Registration with SANC as a Nurse, Midwife, Psychiatric Nurse, Community Health Nurse and Nurse Educator.
  • Appropriate clinical experience and competence.
  • IT skills. Preferences:
  • Master's degree in Nursing in the fields of Infection control
  • Three years appropriate teaching.
  • Experience in group facilitation.
