The Wits School of Education is seeking to appoint suitable candidates at Lecturer and / or Senior lecturer level in Science Education to join a vibrant team of science education researchers and to contribute to the School's teacher education and postgraduate programmes.

Qualifications and Experience:

The successful candidate must meet the following criteria to be appointed:

Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – Physics Education (1):

  • A PhD in Physics Education
  • A strong background in Physics
  • A developing (or independent) research profile and publication record
  • Sustained research supervision record in Physics Education at postgraduate level e.g Honours, Masters (& PhD)
  • A track record of competent teaching in Physics at school level and/or in higher education
  • Experience in teaching Physics Pedagogical methodologies will be an added advantage.
  • Evidence of ability to contribute to the work of the School and the science teaching profession
  • A team player
  • The level of appointment will depend on the demonstrated levels of the above skills set

Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – Chemistry Education (1):

  • PhD in Chemistry Education;
  • Strong background in Chemistry;
  • A developing (or independent) research profile and publication record;
  • Sustained research supervision record in Chemistry Education at postgraduate level at e.g Honours, Masters (& PhD)
  • A track record of competent teaching in Chemistry at school level and/or in higher education
  • Experience in teaching Chemistry Pedagogical methodologies will be an added advantage.
  • Evidence of ability to contribute to the work of the School and the science teaching profession
  • A team player
  • The level of appointment will depend on the demonstrated levels of the above skills set

Remuneration: Dependent on qualifications and relevant experience.
