Professor / Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer : Department of Applied Management

Summary of Duties

  • Take responsibility for the teaching, learning and assessing of modules offered, at all levels and associated with the programme in the Department
  • Make major contributions to the academic quality by providing leadership of all aspects of offerings associated with the Public Relations/ Communication Science/ English in the Department
  • Lead, develop, design and review all learning content associated with Public Relations/Communication Science/ English
  • Plan and organize educational field trips for students
  • Supervise and co-supervise postgraduate students
  • Publish reputable journals
  • Promote community engagement within the department
  • General administrative duties assigned by the Head of Department

Professor:

  • PhD/D-Tech and undergraduate study in the field of Public Relations/Communication Science/English
  • A minimum of 10 years of consistent, extensive and excellent performance in teaching, learning assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate levels (including successful postgraduate supervision) in public relations/communication science/English at University level
  • Achievement of National and or International recognition through research outputs within the last ten years, but with emphasis on recent research outputs
  • Professional recognition through scholarship, creative activity, demonstration of professional development and initiation of high level training courses and advanced seminars
  • Significant contribution to meeting the strategic objectives of the Department and the University
  • Significant contribution to the community
  • All of the above have to be consistent with the University’s Staff Academic Promotions Policy

Associate Professor

  • PhD/D-Tech and undergraduate study in the field of Public Relations/Communication Science /English
  • A minimum of 7 years of consistent, extensive and excellent performance in teaching, learning and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate levels (including successful postgraduate supervision) in public relations/Communications/English at University level
  • Achievement of Regional or National or National recognition through research outputs within the last ten years, but with emphasis on resent research outputs
  • Professional recognition through scholarship, creative activity, demonstration of professional development and initiation of high level training courses and advance seminars
  • Evidence of contribution to meeting the strategic objectives of the Department and University
  • Direct or indirect involvement with the community
  • All of the above have to be consistent with the University’s Staff Promotion Policy

Senior Lecturer:

  • PhD/D Tech and undergraduate study in the field of Public Relations / Communication Science/English
  • At least 5 years lecturing experience in Public Relations /Communication Science/English
  • Senior academic experience within a university context
  • A proven track record of research with having produced/published a research output in the preceding three years
  • Active participation in professional, industry and or community activities
  • All of the above have to consistent with the University’s Staff Promotions Policy

Lecturer:

  • Master’s degree and undergraduate study in the field of Public Relations/Communication Science/English
  • At least 3 years teaching experience in the field of Public Relations/Communication Science/English
  • Research experience
  • Must be at an advance level of completing a PhD

Additional Requirements:

  • Commercial or industrial related experience
  • Demonstrate innovative thinking towards teaching and learning skills
  • Availability to work at other DUT campuses, in the evening and weekends and sometimes away from home
