The Department of Fashion Design in the Faculty of Arts has a permanent position for Senior Lecturer/Lecturer at Arts Campus.

Core functions:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Teaching, Learning and Assessment for research methods course/module and other theory and Practical subjects for Fourth year students and Masters Students.
  • Teaching and assessment for Pattern Technology, Manual grading and digital grading with the use Lectra software.
  • Supervision of Masters and Doctoral students.
  • Research and Innovation (Article writing and initiation of innovative research projects).
  • Quality promotion of teaching and learning activities in the department.
  • Non-curricular activities, including short courses, business initiatives, Fashion shows and exhibition.
  • Good command in academic writing.
  • Attend all departmental functions, staff meeting, etc.
  • Conduct research activities.
  • Participate in research development and curriculum development activities.
  • Initiate and participate in Community Engagement projects.

1. Minimum Requirements

Senior Lecturer

  • A Doctoral degree in Fashion Design or Relevant Field with at least two publications in refereed Journals.
  • Evidence of successfully supervised Masters Students.
  • There must be a portfolio of evidence of pattern drafting, development and grading

Lecturer

  • A Master’s degree in Fashion Design or Relevant Field with a minimum of one published article in refereed Journals
  • Evidence of good progress in doctoral studies with be an added advantage.
  • There must be a portfolio of evidence of pattern drafting, development and grading

2. Experience:

  • Experience in research, academic writing, postgraduate supervision and community engagement projects.
  • Experience in teaching at tertiary level (preferably University) will be an added advantage.
