The Department of Drama and Film in the Faculty of the Arts has a permanent position for a Lecturer at the Arts Campus. Minimum requirements:
  • MTech, Film Production; MFA, Film Production.
  • Industry experience will be most desirable.
  • Lecturing experience at a tertiary level will be an added advantage.
Other requirements:
  • Publication record in accredited journals, or evidence of the potential to publish will be an added advantage.
  • Active participation in industry-based projects.
  • Membership or active involvement in national and/or international boards, societies, organisations and councils in the field of film and television production. 
  • Postgraduate co-supervision experience.
  • Computer literacy in tertiary learning management systems.
  • Track record in tertiary academic and research committee service.
Core Functions
  • Teach Cinematography at diploma and post-diploma level.
  • Teach other subjects in film or video production as appropriate.
  • Executive produce student productions
  • Preparing and conducting lectures for the applicable subject/course;
  • Setting tests, assignments and projects;
  • Assessing and evaluating tests/assignments/projects;
  • Participate in departmental and subject meetings if required to do so;
  • General administration such as capturing test and assignment marks on the IT system, uploading documents on myTUTor and compiling subject study guides and assignment briefs;
  • Student consultation.
