The position is funded by the Department of Higher Education and Training under the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP) and the successful candidate will be subject to the terms and conditions of the programme whilst being a permanent staff member of the University of the Free State.

  • a detailed curriculum vitae and cover letter (please note that the first three (3) referees on your CV will be contacted with regard to reference checking);

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Present lectures and conduct assessments in Animal Science.
  • Supervise M.Sc. research projects.
  • Take part in community projects such as farm days and various consultations.
  • Recruit postgraduate students.
  • Source external research funding and forge linkages with the industry.
  • Perform general administration duties as applicable at university level.

Inherent requirements:

  • Master's degree in Animal Sciences on NQF level 9
  • Proven experience in delivery of oral presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
  • An excellent academic record with a minimum 70% average mark for the Master's degree.
  • Commitment to registering for a doctoral degree in Animal Sciences at the first available opportunity, if not yet attained by the time of the appointment.

Recommendations:

  • Strong background in Animal Science/- Production
  • Proven research record of relevant publication in accredited national journals.

Assumption of duties: As soon as possible.
