Duties and responsibilities:

  • Participate actively in the teaching of under- and postgraduate modules in the field of Accountancy (e.g. Financial Accounting, Taxation, Auditing and/or Management Accounting and Finance).
  • Undertake research in the field of Accountancy.
  • Community involvement.
  • Perform related administrative duties.

Inherent requirements:

Junior Lecturer:

  • Honours degree in Accounting on NQF level 8.
  • A good academic record.


  • Honours degree in Accounting with CA (SA); or Master's degree in the field of Accountancy on NQF level 9.
  • A good academic record.

Required competencies:

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) and, the ability to function well in the university’s richly diverse working environment.
  • Business acumen.
  • Result orientated.
  • Strategic thinking.
  • Leading.
  • Building coalitions.


  • Practical experience in the field of Accountancy.
  • Recent relevant lecturing experience at an institution of higher learning.
  • Proven research record of relevant publications in national accredited journals.
  • Provide evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals.
  • Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
  • Commitment to registering for a master's degree in Accountancy at the first available opportunity, if not yet attained by the time of the appointment.

Assumption of duties:1 November 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.
