Counselling Psychologist : Department of Psychology

Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor levels

All academics are responsible for the dissemination of knowledge (teaching and learning), creation of knowledge (research) and community engagement, recognising that there are differences in the execution of these responsibilities within the various departments and Faculties. Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty and/or University level, and contribute to their profession.

Requirements:

The successful candidate should be in possession of a qualification in Psychology or related discipline. Registration with the HPCSA as a Counselling Psychologist, preferably with 3 years of post-registration experience required.

Professor

A PhD in Psychology or closely related field. Extensive teaching experience at the undergraduate and post graduate levels required including at Masters and PhD levels. Experience in teaching and researching in the disciplinary areas of psychological assessment and/or intervention. Research supervision of Masters and PhD degrees to completion required.

Associate Professor

A PhD in Psychology or closely related field. Considerable teaching experience at the undergraduate and post graduate levels required including at Masters and PhD levels. Experience in teaching and researching in the disciplinary areas of psychological assessment and/or intervention. Research supervision of Masters to completion and preferably PhD degrees to completion required.

Senior Lecturer

A PhD in Psychology or closely related field. Teaching experience at the undergraduate and post graduate levels required. Experience in teaching and researching in the disciplinary areas of psychological assessment and/or intervention. Research supervision of at least Masters' degrees to completion is preferable.
