The African Languages section of the School of Languages and Literatures has an opening for a new position, to be appointed as soon as possible in 2021. We invite applications for appointment to a full-time, permanent (tenure track) position at Lecturer/Senior Lecturer level.
The section's major aim is to ensure the delivery of excellent undergraduate teaching, to strengthen and diversify our graduate programme and to develop a stronger research culture in the section. The section currently offers majors only in isiXhosa (for mother-tongue and second language students) and Sesotho, isiXhosa Honours and Masters and PhD by thesis only.
It is envisaged that the appointee will complement the expertise of other staff members, widen the range of linguistic and nonlinguistic areas within both the undergraduate and postgraduate curricula and continue the ability of the section to offer supervision on linguistics topics.
Requirements at Lecturer level:The respective annual remuneration packages, including benefits are as follows:
Lecturer : R 730 510
Senior Lecturer : R 887 294
Appointment will take place in alignment with the Faculty's expectations for performance at each rank.
