Lecturer: Ecclesiology (Church History / History of Christianity)

Ecclesiology is a sub-discipline in the Department of Systematic Theology and Ecclesiology in the Faculty of Theology. It focusses on the study of the Church History / History of Christianity and Church Polity / Church Law.

Systematic Theology and Ecclesiology is an academic discipline within the Faculty of Theology with a focus on the study of Christian Theology, Ethics, Church History and Church Polity / Church Law.

• Lecturing in the field of Ecclesiology (Church History / History of Christianity);
• Postgraduate study guidance;
• Commitment to further research;
• Attending and presenting papers at national and international conferences;
• Administration pertaining to teaching and research;
• Involvement in activities of the discipline group and Faculty;
• Involvement in the Stellenbosch University (SU) community and social impact activities.

• A doctoral degree in Church History (or a related discipline);
• Teaching and research experience, particularly in Church History;
• Expertise in South African, or African, Church History;
• Postgraduate supervision (completed);
• Articles published in accredited journals;
• Computer literacy, with the ability to use various Microsoft programs (Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
• Good administrative and organisational skills;
• The ability to function in a multilingual environment. The ability to speak, read and write Afrikaans (for research that utilises the archives of the Church and the University that are located in Stellenbosch).

• Ability to read, write and speak Afrikaans;
• An interest in archival research.
