The Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that educates the students across multiple disciplines, including Accounting, Economics, Industrial Psychology (Human Resources Management), Information Systems, Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS), Institute for Social Development, Political Studies, Finance & Management Clusters, School of Government (including Public Administration) and the Academic Literacies Programme.

The Management Cluster, in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, is an innovative provider of professional undergraduate and postgraduate business education. Our large cohort of full- and part-time students in Management reflects our responsiveness to new business challenges and our contribution to economic development and community empowerment. The Management Cluster is rebuilding its teaching and research capacity in various functional areas of Management, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship and is inviting suitably qualified persons to apply for this vacancy.

The successful candidate for Professor in the Management Cluster will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
  • Facilitate learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Management and/or Entrepreneurship and/or Marketing
  • Conduct research and publish in Management and/or Entrepreneurship and/or Marketing
  • Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate supervision
  • Provide academic and institutional leadership
  • Undertake curriculum development and assessment
  • Participate in community engagement and outreach
  • Ability to work across disciplines and functional boundaries
  • Assist with the development of the cluster's in-house academic journal
  • Engage with external stakeholders to provide training and development programmes in the areas of Management and/ or Entrepreneurship  
Minimum Requirements
  • PhD or equivalent, preferably in the field of Management, Entrepreneurship, or Marketing
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning and teaching, preferably in the field of Management and/ or Entrepreneurship and/or Marketing
  • A record of quality peer reviewed publications, preferably in the field of Management and/or Entrepreneurship and/or Marketing
  • A record of successful postgraduate supervision
  • Evidence of expertise, national standing, and definite international presence in his/her discipline.
  • The integration of community engagement with learning and teaching and/or research
  • Experience in generating research grants.
